Score Designs!! Voting is Live!

By: Allmightys Team

The submission for "Monsters & Mayhem" has just closed and now it's time for you to cast your votes!!

Which ones are the coolest, funniest, best illustrated designs? Which ones should we print for you?

The choice is Yours!!

For all the newcomers to the site: you can score points for each design once.
0 points means: "Na, I really don't like that one" and 5 points means: "Yes, this is so cool that I want to see it in print".

Remember that you don't have to score all designs at once. You can score a few, have a coffee and return later to score the rest. Our server will remember you and tell you the ones you already scored by fading the image into black and white. Neat ;)

So, go ahead and have fun going through the cool designs that we have received...
some real treasures among them!!

Scoring Ends on Monday, 11th June.

This is me

By: Kon

Check out this short film on youtube by Sam Arthur.

The storyline is sad and comical at the same time. The film itself is very well scripted and executed. I especially like the cartoon elements in it.

I feel sorry for the guy though...

Endless drawing

By: Kon

This is brilliant: a site where anyone can continue working on an endless image. Your image has to connect to the one before, so the whole image looks like one continuous wallpaper.

I check it regularly to see how it is evolving. It's a cool idea and does actually get longer and longer... a huge online mural!

Critical Metrics

By: kon

Here's a really cool music site I found recently:

"Every week, artists, DJs, music tv networks, newspapers, magazines, retailers, and bloggers recommend hundreds of their favorite new songs.
Critical Metrics keeps track of recommendations and playlists across all media so you can easily find, try, and buy the best new music."

I think it's a brilliant music compandium. The selections are cool mostly and done by people who (again mostly) know what they are talking about.  You get a lot of background info too and, where available, a link to the youtube video.

My only problem is the buffering takes too long sometimes, but maybe my DSL is lame again ;)

Friday Fun: Worst case scenarious

By: Kon

Something for Friday:

Here is a really cool and funny site which deals with all sorts of "worst case" scenarios and how to deal with them. There are hilarious situations like "How to control a runaway camel", situations that we really don't want to find ourselves in, like "How to Survive If Your Parachute Fails to Open" and stuff that will make you smile, like "How to Foil a UFO Abduction".

Some are really interesting, others will just make you laugh, but the site is well worth a visit on a relaxed afternoon.

My favourite is the one "How to Survive If You Are Caught Slacking". It comes with a nice drawing of the best sleeping position at your desk ;)

Essential Architecture

By: Kon

Here is a neat little link for anyone who plans on travelling soon or just wants a closer look at the architectual highlights in your own city.

Basically you get an overview of architectual landmarks sorted by city that come with a bunch of photos and some description. You can most likely find some of this info in any decent travel guide, but this site gives you both recent and historical images and a good amount of historical background info more than would fit in most guides. I find it well composed and researched. For instance, did you know that Angkor Wat in Cambodia was built on a square island? I didn't...

so, if you're planning to travel soon, go ahead and have a browse here...

Ping-Pong door

By: kon

These two guys had a really neat idea. Looks like a lot of fun if you have a place that's big enough to play table tennis in...

designer's own words:
ready to build in ping pong table door. raising the handle allows you to swing the table and fasten it in position. Enjoy all the benefits of ping pong playing in your place, no matter how big it is. A conventional door connects rooms, this door connects people.

Planets and Moons

I just love sites like these...

This always reminds of an astronomy teacher I used to have, who had a really fascinating way of explaining the relative sizes and distances of the planets in our solar system to us. I could spend hours looking at stuff like this!

Susan Kare User Interface Graphics

By: Filip

Ever wondered where did those original Mac OS Sys 6-7 icons come from?
Susan Kare is the answer.
Its fantastic now looking back, its hard to imagine that they were actually designed just because they are sooo mac. I remember sitting hours in front of them and using Photoshop 2 and Mac Paint. Oh, those were the times...none of this dock scalling up and down stuff and eyecandy..

Check out the site.

"Mother Nature" Competition Results

By: Allmightys Team

Mother Nature Competition

We asked you to think trees, plants, airplanes (hmm), CO2, renewables, cars, electricity, water, waste....everything ...

We had some really great submissions for this competition. Thank you all for submitting great designs!. The three winners are a result of all the votes that came in. As you can see from the score, the gold winner average score was 2.71 with the total of 325 voters!! Quite amazing in comparison to other designs. Someone has a lot of friends :) Apart from these 3 winners, we decided to print another 6 designs as Allmightys Special Selections. It was very hard to choose these designs and our choices were based on the voting result, the design, response to the theme and the quality. For example, Drying UP was in the lead for 12 days, ceci n'est pas une peche received a large number of votes in the last few days but did not reach 3rd place, Da Zi Ran is a great design,  Mother Vomit Earth is fantastic, Bad Planet very well drawn and produced design and SEED is just cool.
