A little less than a week left to submit designs for our current "Mech Tech" competition. We've had some great entries already and if you haven't seen them check out our design forum.

We are now entering the period , last week, where things get very hectic and submissions  really start pouring in. If you are planning to submit please do so asap to avoid last minute rejection. Another great thing to submit early is that you can get community to comment on your design and you still have time to improve it/make changes. If you leave it too late ...then you are a little stuck. :)

For the new members, don't forget about our "Submit Discussion" option if you would like to discuss your design with other members or just fancy getting some feedback before you actually make the final submission. Its a great way to get inspired by other members of the Allmightys community.

Deadline to submit is 19th November, 23.00 GMT. We will be closing the submissions and opening Vote Designs the next day. It takes us about couple of hours to go through all the submissions and check everything is in order and ready for voting. When the voting starts you will see a new menu appear vote designs. Here you will be able to score all the designs and comment. Please tell us what you gave the design as we are sure designers appreciate all the comments they receive.

Voting ends on 10th December 2007, 23.00 GMT. This gives you, your friends other members about 3 weeks to vote. By the 10th we should have collected enough votes and comments to decide the winners.

The “Once upon a Time...” competition has ended!

The submissions for this competition were extremely varied as you could see. We are very happy that even more designers from all over the world are taking part and submitting their designs. The approaches to his theme were as diverse and exceptional as we had hoped for- thank you all for submitting such great work!!

As always, we will be printing 6 designs from the range. Since the introduction of the Design Forum, the selection of the winning shirts is now based on the average score, the comments for each design and the type of votes received. We think it's great that the design forum is used the way we intended it too: a place to share thoughts and talk about each others work.

The three winners all ranked high in the voting and were all very convincing looking at the comments that you left. The same counts for the Special Selections. The runner-ups were also close but maybe just lacked the extra little edge to place them higher in ranking... altogether it was a very hard choice this time. The results are:

Thank you all for submitting such wonderful designs!  We've recieved a fantastic response and it's exciting to see so many cool ideas looking at this competition theme from very varied angles. All we need to know now is what you, your family, your friends, your work colleagues think about them by scoring/voting.

SCORE DESIGNS NOW!

A quick word of explanation for all the newcomers to the site: you can score points for each design once. 0 points means: "Na, I really don't like that one" and 5 points means: "Yes, this is so cool that I want to see it in print". Remember that you don't have to score all designs at once. You can score a few, have a coffee and return later to score the rest. Our server will remember you and tell you the ones you already scored by fading the image into black and white. Neat ;) but don't forget to score all the designs ..they all need your vote!

With only 3 days left to the submission deadline for our current "Once Upon A Time.." competition, things are really hotting up. The submissions keep coming in, as you can see in the forum, and we've had some really fantastic ones. All we need to know now is what you, your family, your friends, your work colleagues think about them by scoring/voting.

The Voting starts on Wednesday, 19th September, sometime AM. You will see the existing menu "Submit Design" menu change into "Vote Designs". Here you will be able to see all the designs that have been accepted, vote and comment on them. If you would like to share your score with everyone else, please let us know by commenting. The designers would love to know why and how you score their designs and your comments will be one of the deciding factors whether that design gets printed or not.

Considering there is only 3 days left now, you still have a chance to make some alterations to your design taking into account comments made and resubmit. We will be accepting and "retiring" designs up to the last minute on Tuesday 18th Sept. 23.00 GMT (Submission Deadline). Please, if you still haven't submitted a design but you want to, do this ASAP. Do not leave it for last moment because your submissions may be rejected and you will not have enough time to make a small alteration that will make all the difference. If you plan to submit the last moment anyway, and we can't convince you otherwise, make sure you READ THE RULES. You do not want your fantastic design rejected just because your gallery image file is one pixel too big.

When the voting launches, you can score the designs on the scale of 0-5, zero being those that you don't like (but do you think any design deserves a zero??!) or 5 that you love and want to see as a prize winner/printed. We would like you to score ALL the designs, but don't worry, you don't have to score them all at once. The system remembers your score and you can always come back another day to score the rest. Be careful as you can not change your score. Once you hit that number, its cast in stone. :)

A little update on what's going on at Allmightys at the moment.
We are working on a number of things and they are taking quite a bit of our time ..
First of all is a number of new pages we would like to include in the site which we think our new members will benefit most from. These pages are: A Guide to Designing TShirts and also A Guide to Voting. We think there are many new users out there who are not familiar with the processes and what better way to show them but to create pages only dedicated to this.
Second are the new features. We've been very hard at work on these and our developers are working on implementing them as we speak. These features relate to Voting and Submitting designs so we want to finish them before the new competition goes up. At the moment, we are looking at 2 weeks, but please don't hold us to it as these things take a lot of tweaking and testing. It will be worth the wait! :)
Thirdly, a neat little feature that we think you all will love. It's for all of us..nothing major, but fantastic and we can't wait to show it off to you.
And fourth, getting your wonderful tees printed as soon as possible. The colours have been decided, printers have been informed and it won't be long before they are in store.

So, stick around, a lot coming in the next few weeks and off course, if you have any suggestions, let us know.

We all love photos and we all love to share them. What better way to do this than via .  Flickr is almost certainly the best online photo management and sharing application in the world. A new menu has now been added to the shop where you will find Photo Feed from the Flickr group called Allmightys.

Only 4 days left to the scoring end. The funny thing is that 3,4,5 places are still fighting amongst themselves :) They are so close that every vote makes a difference. Also, it appears that these designs are also getting close to the 2 and 1st place, so no-one is safe anymore :) . We would LOVE to reveal more but we can't and its so hard to keep it away from you!! :(   All will be revealed very soon!!!..only 4 DAYS!!

We also have some good news coming in the next few days ....but only once the voting is over. We think everyone is going to be pleased about this.

We have been busy today and yesterday working on the new front page. We have really had troubles finding a best way to present your designs and designers on the front page. Its really a design issue , how to make the front page look clean and at the same time display so much info. From the start, when we originally designed the website in October 2006, we always knew that it was your work that will make up the graphic look of the website and we wanted to build something that would just act as a frame to your wonderful designs.  We also knew, including some comments we received recently, that having a store on the front page might not be a way forward. This has also resulted in slowing down the loading of the site. We now finally feel like we have a perfect solution and we think you will like it. Visit the site tomorrow/day after to see the new front.

We also have new Tees coming to the store tomorrow. These are 4 tees from the Monsters & Mayhem competition and they look fantastic! I (filip) have already grabbed one (bought it actually, oh yes, we have to pay too) and wore it yesterday. I just love when the looks are coming especially from people who identify themselves in the tee (can you guess which Tee I am talking about?)

Anyhow, lots to happen tonight/tomorrow/day after. Keep an eye on the site and off course, as always, all your comments are welcome.

Six days now left to Vote. New votes are coming in as we speak. Things are also getting really exciting as it seems that first and second place are holding strong their positions and there is a fight over the third place. Just as we think its set and the gap is widening its suddenly reduced to nothing and the 4th place design overtakes the 3rd. We think this is going to be the fight until the end. Its also very interesting what designs new visitors are voting for (see little text below). Lets also not forget about current 5,6 and 7th places as they are very close too. We'll have to wait until the end to see what happens.

The Designs
There seems to be general preference to idea strong designs which is fantastic. Richness of the design is not necessarily what people go for and from our experience voters evaluate designs on the following few principles: "Would I wear this" , "How well it is produced" and "How well is the idea demonstrated and applied to a T-Shirt". Even though we may appreciate a design from aesthetic point of view, we may not forget that this is also an apparel. If you ask yourself whether this design would also work on a Coffee Mug for example, and the answer is yes,  then there might be something with the design not being thoroughly through out for the design on a T-Shirt. Taking T-Shirt as a medium as a starting point and then the theme as secondary usually results in successful designs. This is what makes designing t-shirts especially exciting. It is very different from working with other mediums - It is wearable, and it puts the "purpose of designs" in the forefront. People notice what you wear and they do wonder why you wear particular design. We all associate in some way to what we wear. This may be colour, shape, reference to an old item of clothing and many others. What we wear makes us what we are to other people. It is a reflection of our personality.

Taking all of this into account, is it really possible to evaluate a good T-Shirt Design?  We don't think so, the only thing left to us to evaluate is how well is the design produced, how much effort has one put into it and how developed the idea is.

ps. Has anyone noticed the theme running through our blog posts? :)

First day of voting is almost over (first 24hrs), and as expected the designs have been moving up and down the ladder like mad. Its absolutely impossible to predict anything but some designs are taking the stronghold :). With another 9 days to go everything can change so we'll keep an eye and let you know how the designs are doing.
We've also had today one of those designers that think they can beat the system. Nothing new, we've seen it all before, and we sent our usual "happy" email that said something like "FINAL WARNING" :) I think they have learned their lesson. Off course, if our email "ended up in their Junk mail folder" or "they haven't checked their email" or "I couldn't connect to Internet last night so I didn't get your message and I am really sorry" then the design is OUT of the competition :). Its a shame that these things happen but its kind of understandable. We are not here to make it difficult..just fair.

The site has also been overwhelmed with traffic in the last 2 days so if you have been getting the message "The Page is Being Loaded..Please Wait" we know about it and are working on getting around that problem. One solution is moving to faster servers and we are working on that. As soon as the storm has passed, in a day or two, you should not be getting that message anymore (hopefully).

This is also the time when the site is growing in Member numbers. A lot of friends are visiting and we would like to thank the new visitors for their votes.
