Top 10 LEGO Mindstorms Creations

By: Filip

I absolutley love Mindstorm. Its one of those things on my neverending shopping list. We have one at University and its fantastic. Last (academic) year a studio in the degree (Francoise Girardin) were using it on their architectural models. They were working with Interactive Installations and part of the brief was to integrate mindstorm into their models. The results were fantastic.

Its just wonderful thinking of all the potential moving away from traditional architectural model making.

Off course, these can be used real scale too.

Check out this interesting project: Monument (If it Bleeds, it Leads) (2006)

The Earth Guide

By: Kon

Here is a truly beautiful site about our earth.
It calls itself the "Earth Guide" and  is made by the Japan Science and Technology Agency. The site is arranged around a "question map" which covers different topics and areas. You can find out a lot about the blue planet starting with its location in the milky way going to the depth of the oceans and the relative areas of land.

The site is beautifully animated, although the flash navigation can be a bit confusing at first...

It comes with a range of funny noises to enhance the tranquil feel of the site.

Something for a little evening browsing or a break over lunch :)

Enjoy here...

Cool USB Flash Memory

By: Filip

I have been searching for an interesting USB memory stick for a very long time and I still haven't got one. I rely on my Treo 680 phone with SD card or my MacBookPro that i carry with me all the time. These USB stick are such a great opportunity to explore conceptually. Unfortunately, a very large majority of USB sticks out there are just so disappointing.

Here is a few USB Memory sticks that I found. I think these look very cool.

Lego blocks USB Flash Drives (via engadget)

I absolutely love these. I think they are wonderfully simple and they come in lego colours ..fantastic! you can get them here.

Beabrick USB Memory Sticks (via FarEastGizmos)

I am a big fan of designer toys. Bearbricks are truly fantastic designer toys. If you haven't heard of them, check them out here. Unfortunately, these USB sticks are not available yet, but see FarEastGizmos for more info.

FlashBag USB Memory Drives

Now, these look fantastic. not available yet, but definitely to keep an eye on. Finally someone is exploring this opportunity to do something exciting with USB drives.
These actually blow up when you are running out of free space - cool!

How Cool Are These? (via eglobe1)

...but do they exist?

and finally, these, designed by Vicky Wei (via yankodesign)

Memory Infinite has a USB male connector at one end and a female connector at the other, providing an “add up” concept for USB finger discs. By connecting one Memory Infinite with another to add up the storage capacity, the user won't waste the old storage capacity when getting a larger one. The user can choose to combine or separate Memory Infinite, making the usage of USB finger discs more convenient.

Anyone know any other funky USB memory sticks?

Check out this movie about a suitcase-turns-into-bicycle.

A cool gadget for the weekend city breaks, as long as it doesn't weigh too much.

A neat idea nonetheless...

Here is another one of those products that you have to love!  I have been thinking of picking up one for a while now but never got around to it. I just love the "penelope" headset in maroon for a skype phone and it looks amazing. I think its also hilarious to use it as a hands free for your mobile phone ...imagine pulling this out in the street..
