Photoshop - History

By: Filip

Ever wanted to know how Photoshop came about? After all, it is a program we use pretty much daily. The oldest version I remember using was Ver 2. It's moved on quite a bit since then :)

Check it out...

Extract:
In the summer of 1988, John thought they might have the basis of a commercially viable product. Thomas was reluctant: “Do you have any idea how much work it is to write a commercial application?” he asked John. But with his naive optimism, John convinced Thomas it would be worth the effort. “I’ll figure out how to make money with this,” he told his brother. Well, John was right, but so was Thomas. It did take a lot of work.

Colour Icons

By: kon

For all you Mac users: do you work with coloured labels in your finder to keep things organised? If you do, then this little application might come in useful:

"Color icons for color labels. Hey Folders! adds colored folder icons to Apple's Finder. Instead of a generic icon, labeled folders show up in the appropriate color."

Virtue Desktops

By: Kon

Here's a neat little application that let's you use an unlimited number of screens on your powerpc or intel based macs. I'm putting this up here for everyone who wants to use it for a few weeks until Leopard comes out, as Spaces does pretty much the same thing. This is also the reason why Rich Wareham, who developed Virtuedesktops will not continue to work on the current beta. I think it's a really useful application and it works fine on my machine...

Cool Mac Apps

By: Filip

Here is one really useful mac app.

Like most people, our screens and desktops get cluttered within days and we always have to spend time cleaning them up. Also, in many ways the biggest problem with any OS is that we end up with many applications one and one sitting in front of another distracting you at all times. In other words, your screen is always cluttered with icons, windows, pop-ups, toolbars, etc..

This is a great app for mac osx that resolves that issue and lets you concentrate on what you are doing. The idea is simple ...if you ever used Alt-Click which hides current app when clicked on another app or the desktop ..this app does the same thing automatically. You can also shade or hide the desktop all together.
Give it a go and you'll see how much cleaner you screen gets. You can use this in conjuction with Apple+Tab command to switch apps if you hide your dock.
Enjoy

Installing Windows Vista

By: Filip

This is just for fun. Its not that we dont like Windows, we do, but I am especially a fan of any underdog, in this instance Mac OSX. I do run windows sometimes on my Mac Book Pro but recently i have been thinking of upgrading my Boot Camp windows XP to Vista. I do worry that i am gonna loose all the little i have by installing vista and i can just imagine what it could be like for people who really rely on XP.

So, what is your experience of Vista? ... Have you tried it?...How did the installation go?
Luckily for us Mac users and because the hardware is the same across the board we are kind of guaranteed that the drivers will work, or not... its simple. I can just imagine what a nightmare it might be for someone who put a PC together themselves.

Maybe like this?...Check out this link...very funny!

Poor boy Apple Dot Mac alternatives

By: Filip

If you have been looking for ways to apple's great .mac service, here are few pointers. Its not a truly integrated solution like .mac but look on the bright side; you get a lot more options and greater flexibility with these.
also, nothing can really beat flickr for sharing photos.
