Graffiti Keyboard

By: Filip

Is this the result of us dropping sketchpads and resorting to keyboard and mouse as the only way of capturing ideas? Someone seems to have gone a little too far :)

Wall Mounted Rolling Sketchpad

By: Filip

I love reading Make magazine. Their posts are always full of fantastic ideas. Here is a link to one:

Wall mounted rolling sketchpad

Here is the story:
I like to sketch on vertical surfaces. I came across some wide paper rolls and wanted to figure out a way to use them as sketch pads. 20 minutes and $10 worth of closet brackets and dowels later, mission was accomplished. If you are not drilling brick walls like this, you should be able to throw something like this together in about 10 minutes.

Check out the site here for some other great ideas.

Make Your Own Moleskine-Like-Notebook

By: Filip

Here is one great guide for everyone. We all have lots of scrap paper lying around. For us in the office the pile is getting larger each day even though we are very conscious when we hit that print button.

This is a fantastic way to make use of that scrap paper. This is my next task, to use all the stacked scrap paper and make new sketch books. I don’t even mind that one side is always gonna have a print out on it because  what better way to start a new sketch than with an old drawing underneath.

I am really looking forward to this ...i just gotta do it now.

Build Your Own Lamp

By: Filip

Love the idea to build your own products. This is a fantastic solution to adding something extraordinary to your home.

Info on the product:
The Designer Emulation Kits (DEK’s for short) are meant as the sincerest homage to some of the greatest modern designers of our time. The lamps and designers being “emulated” have a particular importance. They are represented in countless design tomes extolling the various movements, and they are held up as prime examples of “good design.”

- Arco kit: is based on the classic Arco by Achille Castiglioni. A ubiquitous symbol of good taste, and universally recognized...
- Lucellino kit: was inspired by Ingo Maurer’s Lucellino. Why make it the first in the series? The originator of the DEK’s, Mark McKenna, took his first professional job as a member of the Ingo Maurer team.
- Tizio kit: takes the form of the famous Tizio by Richard Sapper.  This is the most challenging DEK to put together...

Duct Tape Wallet

By: Filip

How about a duct tape wallet?  I always find it fascinating when one material is used different to what it was made to do. We all know duct tape and many of us have it at home. In our minds, it is for one function only; stick things together. Now how about if we made a wallet out of it? Check out this site. These guys have been making ducttape wallets for years and now offer step by step instructions on how to make you own.
I think they look pretty cool too.
