Benrik's book for Mother's Day

By: kon

I posted earlier this year about Benrik and their absolutely cool calender.

Here's the Mother's Day book from the London-based illustrators that might make a nice gift for the coming special day for the mums.

I haven't got it myself, but knowing them I'm sure it's as witty and funny as all their published work...

Here's what they say:

"Benrik are striking back against the gooey sentimentality of Mother's Day with a bijou present: The Mother's Book. It includes: Disciplining through medication. Fending off Social Services. Spotting paedophile teachers. Alternative breastfeeding techniques. Rebelling against your own teenagers. And what to do if you accidentally damage your child's self-esteem forever.

It has a nice pink cover, shown below, and makes the perfect gift for the mother in your life. Mother's Day in the UK is on March 18, so there's still plenty of time to order it here. Good child!"

1000 places...

By: kon

This is not exactly new, but I only found this book last week in my local book store. Patricia Schultz really put together a substantial list of great places to see on this earth. Some are quite straightforward and obvious city sights, like the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin or the Sistine Chapel in Rome, but other tips for an interesting vacation include the snow festival in Sapporo, Japan or a hot air balloon safari in Africa.

This travel guide also lists the local hotels (no cheap sleeps, mostly top range hotels) and the best time to go but apart from that I think it's just an entertaining and interesting read.

Where can I go next...?

Whoever makes it to all 1000 places gets a free T-Shirt...promise ; )

It's available in several languages and you can probably find it everywhere but definately at amazon.

Enjoy!

Best calender ever!

By: kon

Benrik have released their fourth consecutive calender for 2007 and it is the funniest, most witty date-keeper I have ever come across...

Here's what they say:

"The very latest Diary Will Change Your Life is now officially out! The 2007 edition features terrorism, Paris Hilton, the Chinese security apparatus, burkas, the Virgin Mary, dead bodies, the British National Party and the apocalypse, but not all in the same task thankfully. Follow its instructions every week, and your life will definitely change, and very possibly end. And it has a nice cover. The Diary normally retails for an extremely reasonable £9.99, but the more savvy consumer can purchase it here for much less, although God knows how that affects Benrik's already pitiful royalties."

Check it out!!
