Also, there is a bunch of content you can now see on the maps including youtube videos, photos, weather, picasa albums and a whole lot more.
Where before we would search google maps when we wanted to find a particularplace, now its a tool for exploration, reference and learning.

Handwritten Newspaper

By: Kon

I recently came across 'The Musalman', the oldest Urdu daily newspaper in India and probably the only handwritten newspaper in the world. The paper was established in 1927 and is published in Chennai. Copies of this paper are shipped as far as Calcutta and Mumbay.
Four professional calligraphers spend three hours every day on each page.
I think it's a great feat concerning the precision and dedication needed for this task.
I also think calligraphy as such goes really well with our current competition :)

Animals on the Underground

By: Filip

Have you seen animals on the London underground?

They should rename all the lines into animal and imagine how fun that would be; "Take the dog to Piccadilly, then change onto the horse to Green Park and then take the Snail to Holborn".
Considering what hell London Underground has been in the last few months we all need a little cheering up...

I vote, close London Underground all together, fix it, and then re-open.
Who is with me?!

Patterns of Allmightys Visitors

By: Filip

Here is something wonderful. These images are taken from google analytics we use here at Allmightys to monitor visits to the site. The pictures show all the places in the world visitors to Allmightys come from, including you.
We broke it down into few continents and you can see visitor locations from Europe, North America and the world. It is also safe to assume that google may not be right always and there is some data "uknown". These are all based on IPs so if there is some tunnelling going on via proxy servers then google would probably get confused and list some as coming from North America whilst in fact they may be located on a little island somewhere in the Atlantic (Lost).

Cool, eh!

Barcode Building by Vitruvius

By: Filip

We don't talk much about architecture here, probably because it is what Kon and I do day in day out..but maybe we should.

Here is something that spans between graphic and object, a representation of a barcode in the form of a building, and yes, its a shopping mall.

"The centre is located in a soviet residential area on the bank of the Neva River. Placed in a vast nameless square by the Volodarsky Bridge, formed by grey housing blocks. Vitruvius and Sons liven up this space by introducing a splash of colour. At the same time they are playing with a post-modern symbolic; the elongated windows which create the impression of a barcode help to clarify the functional identity of the building" source

A great read on architecture and iconography, a regular topic over at eikongraphia.com

Fontstruct

By: Filip

Don't expect much else but this month we are totally committed to spam this blog with absolutely anything having even slight relation to patters, which in fact is pretty much everything :)

Today, we bring you Fontstruct
A great site to share, discuss, build, clone and download an amazing collection of fonts build by the community. It has definitely one of the easiest interfaces to build fonts, have a go, we guarantee lots of fun!

If you are not after fonts, one thing is for sure, plenty of patterns to build here :)
