About mrjez:
I am Jeremy Hesketh a.k.a. mrjez, 28 year old graphic designer/illustrator based in south west scotland.
I come from an artistic family and have always been interested in art and design. I was always drawing as a child and studied art through high school. After school I went travelling for several years and although I occasionally used my sketchbook I didn’t get much of a chance to use my hands for artistic purposes. After a couple of years “finding myself” somehow I ended up at St. Andrews University studying geology and not graphic design! Cartography was one of my strongest areas! After university I decided to do a snowboarding season and got hooked! Four winters in Austria and my snowboarding skills have improved greatly and I rediscovered my passion for art. Starting to sketch more often I got interested in snowboard graphics and in 2006 I got my first big break designing a snowboard for Smirnoff Ice.
This gave me the kick to get me back into art and more specifically a career in graphic design and illustration. After the Smirnoff Ice snowboard I had a few small jobs, I decided to set my self up as a graphic designer/illustrator. I taught myself how to use Dreamweaver and built my website, www.mrjez.com as well as registering with myspace, www.myspace.com/yellopants where several of my clients found me. Now I have the website, I am learning flash and improving my web design skills as I have a list of clients requesting my services as a web designer. I am currently working with a great design studio Wolffe and Co, which is doing me wonders! I also have some really interesting work with London based music promotions mj jazz exchange and dj nick mills. It’s all very exciting and I still have lots to learn, but this is what I enjoy doing and It’s amazing that I’ve had such a positive response to my work.
Having surprised myself with this allmightys t-shirt competition, I would like to do more t-shirt design, but I need to take things step by step! watch this space…
